WooCommerce is the world’s leading eCommerce platform that impresses its clients with stunning opportunities and continually opens the door to new enhancements. In eCommerce, you will see that the majority of products don’t come in a single choice, but many different variantions, such as color, size, length, version… WooCommerce allows you to create variable products for this reason.
Creating variable products with WooCommerce may be difficult if you don’t know how to set up it. However, if you follow this step by step guide, you can easily learn how to add variable products in WooCommerce.
Adding a variable product
Step 1: Set the product type
To add a variable product, create a new product or edit the existing one, You have to-
Go to WooCommerce > Products > Add Products or Editan existing product.
Scroll down the page, you’ll get Product Data, from this you have to select Variable Product.
Step 2: Add attributes to use for variations
Attributes define variations in variable products. Though you can add attributes within the product sheet when creating variable products but it is recommended that you set up pre-set values in Attributes tab so that you can save a lot of time on adding new attributes every time you create a new variable product.
Just go to Products > Attributes: this is where you have to set up attributes that apply to your variable products.
Custom attributes specific to product
If you want to add only certain terms to this specific product, you have to click on it and you will see a drop down menu. Make sure to select Used for variations option. This box is not toggled by default and if you add your terms to specific product, it will disappear automatically.
If you click on Select All, all the terms you created for this variable will be added. Also, you can add a new term if you want to choose.
You can do the same process for size also.
Now click on Save attributes.
Global attributes
To use Global attributes –
Select one from the drop down menu and Add. Or, Choose Select all to add all attributes to the variable product. Make sure to put tick mark on Used for variations.
Step 3: Add variations
Go to Variations section.
Manually Adding a Variation
Сhoose Add variation from the drop down menu and press Go.
Choose the attributes for your variation. To change additional data, click on the triangle icon to expand the variation.
Edit any available data. The only required field is Regular Price.
Save Changes.
Editing Many Variations
If your navigation exceed 10, use the buttons to navigate you through list.
Setting Defaults
You can also set up a default variation when customers visit the product page. If you leave these options blank and no values will be pre-selected then customers must choose options to add the product to cart.
You can only set defaults values after at least one variation creation.
Add an image for the variation
To add the image to your variation. Simply expand the triangle icon, click the blue image and choose the desired image from your computer and Save.
Pick up the appropriate product category from your categories menu for your variable product and press “Publish” button.
